Planters Warts

Is This What Is Troubling You?

Planters warts or plantar warts are those warts which affect the lower part of your foot, which by the way, are also referred to as plantar side of the foot – hence the name. This condition is the result of a viral infection caused by walking barefoot in places where this virus - the human papillomavirus (HPV) – thrives. The infection happens when this virus enters the body through any crack in the foot. Some of the statistics show that about ten percent of the teenagers in the West get infected with this virus by simply walking barefoot in public showers and the like places.

How To Diagnose The Planters Warts

It is a little difficult to identify the planters warts on your own as in the very initial stages these would look just like calluses which are so common. Once infected, the HPV thrives in the conducive environment provided by sweaty feet encased in shoes the whole day. These warts grow on the skin and sometimes even inside the skin; they are painful to touch and they multiple steadily. Sometimes, on walking you would feel like you are having a stone in your shoe.

The difference between calluses and the planters warts is that the latter has a blood supply (which is visible through its fleshy color) while the former is just an accumulation of dead skin and hence totally colorless (and bloodless).

How To Remove Warts

Many times you would find that the planters warts disappear by themselves. However, there are many times when they do not and you would need to intervene to get rid of the warts. There are many wart cures, some just based on old-wives tales and some totally scientific. No matter what advice you get from your friends and well wishers, you should visit a doctor and have it treated medically.

Since you know what causes warts you would also understand that you would need to boost the body’s immune system so it can get rid of the virus on its own. The medicine prescribed would often involve salicylic acid applications/ patches and/ or other chemical treatments as per the doctor’s advice. This would help you getting rid of the warts within a week to ten days.

Sometimes however, the warts refuse to go. In these cases, the doctor would use other types of treatment such as freezing (with liquid nitrogen) and dissolving the wart or can simply cut out the wart completely.

Other wart cures involve the application of herbal medicine to the affected spots long enough for it to fall off. However, such warts cures are not always very effective. The best wart remedies
would be to use planters warts removal by a qualified physician. Unless done by a professional, the planters warts removal might develop into other complications, which are definitely avoidable.
